Resolutions and Key Ideas

We, a dedicated Muslim group, came together to form Muslims for Peace, Justice and Progress [MPJP] in order to pursue a new vision of leadership and activism on the national and international front, and to promote bridge-building between the West and the Muslim world.

As the common denominator of these two polarized camps of the world, we, American Muslims, can play a vital role in mitigating conflicts and diffusing confrontational situations.

Realizing our legitimate grounds by virtue of our faith to pursue peace, and by virtue of our citizenship of the superpower in our time, and by our membership in the greater global Muslim community, and by the enormous responsibilities upon us, we came to the following resolutions:

  1. We are committed to help uplift the image and identity of Muslims everywhere through our work as catalysts of change and as peace makers. We believe that this organization can help to dispel Islamophobia and stereotypes against Muslims in a fast and substantial manner.
  2. We are dedicated to invalidate and marginalize extremism by raising a powerful voice of reason and moderation, which will reflect the voice of the silent majority of Muslims throughout the world.
  3. We are dedicated to help change the mindsets and modus operandi of many Muslim-majority societies so that they can become constructive, productive, and progressive. By encouraging them to take responsibility of their own affairs, and by pointing out the power of integration that can stabilize their societies and help them progress, we believe we could contribute in changing their present predicament. We believe that we could play an enormously helpful role in changing their stagnated situations desperately needing reforms and rapid economic development.
  4. We are committed to stay above the fray of sectarian, factional, and ethnic differences in our organization and in our pursuits.
  5. We are resolved to be inclusive, impartial and united on the basis of commonalities and common interests to pursue empowerment, welfare and service.
  6. As long as members/participants/contributors comply with the vision, mission, and standards of MPJP, we, the officers and/or decision-makers, cannot refuse their participation and contribution towards the cause on the basis of differences of sects, ethnicities, views, etc.
  7. We are addressing a new dimension of activism today. No other Muslim American organization, to the best of our knowledge, has addressed it until now in its comprehensiveness and in its new dimension. And we dedicate ourselves to the cause.
  8. We appreciate and encourage the efforts of other Muslim organizations in America within their respective spheres. All are vital and ground breaking. However, the time has come to take the leadership to a new frontier and a new level of involvement.
  9. We are committed to remain cooperative and congenial with other major Muslim organizations in the West and beyond. We can work side by side with them, or we can form a bigger coalition in the pursuit of the cause. We also remain supportive of their respective agendas, and we intend to help uplift their position and image whenever possible. We are committed to working in unity as a single force if we face difficulty and harassment by any organization in America and beyond. We stand in solidarity with all other Muslim organizations that do not violate our fundamental principles and values laid down here as well as in our vision and mission statement.
  10. We remain committed not to allow others to provoke and intimidate us into becoming reactionary, fearful, petty, short-sighted, and vengeful. Rather we intend to be visionary, courageous, generous, and vivacious reflecting the true spirit of Islam and the establishment of justice and peace.
  11. We, MPJP, must remain transparent, accountable, and above all, independent in order to be effective in the pursuit of the cause.
  12. We must remain objective, fair, and professional. We must maintain high standards of work ethics when carrying out our duties and when dispensing our fiduciary responsibilities.
  13. We are dedicated to our role as responsible and productive citizens of America, and to our role as members of a greater world community of Muslims.
  14. Furthermore, we are dedicated to the proposition of a win-win situation between America and the Muslim world, and to its enormous implication for the greater peace and stability in the world.
  15. We wish to reach out to Muslims of many other Western and Eastern nations to spearhead a transnational leadership and network to promote conflict resolution and constructive engagement on the international front.
  16. We are dedicated to enlarge the domain of goodwill in our work with non-Muslims. We remain non-judgmental in our pursuits of peaceful coexistence and cooperation. We are committed to working side-by-side with non-Muslim individuals and organizations, or as their partners to promote peace and goodwill.
  17. We intend to reach out to civil societies of many countries in order to help create a broader and bigger network to pursue peace, justice, and progress.
  18. We are resolved that we conduct our affairs from the moral high ground with the spirit of Islam: justice towards all and malice towards none.
  19. We are highly resolved to keep our trust in God ["mutawakkilun"], to keep our faith [‘muminun’], to remain conscious of His Supreme Presence [“muttaqun”], and to submit ourselves to the Will and Moral Law of our Sustainer-Creator [“muslimun”] in all our pursuits.
  20. [ALHAMDULILLAH]
