1. (11:00am-11:10am) - Spoke about the compelling need for American Muslims to create a visionary leadership in order to promote constructive engagement, conflict resolution and people-to-people dialogue, and to help create a powerful environment of diplomacy. A conducive environment charged with diplomacy could eventually marginalize or even substitute costly bloody military engagements. For that cause, we, Muslim Americans, should outreach to the American public and the civil society to support us and to work side by side with us. Most importantly, we must recognize the critical time we live IN and the situation that American Muslims are in today.  There exists a vacuum for dialogue between America and the Muslim world. A forceful intermediary could play a critical role as a catalyst. We, American Muslims, are the ‘common denominator’ of the two most vital and polarized segments of humanity. We must fill in this vacuum in order to bring about a new direction of constructive engagement between the East and the West. Read more »

Arab & Muslim Leaders Write Back to Obama

"Mr. Obama's speech failed to convey the vital role American Muslims can play in materializing a new relationship between the Muslim world and America. He failed to recognize the potential of this common denominator [between America and the Muslim world] in bridge-building. His leadership remains deficient in reaching out to this powerful catalyst of change within America to be a partner in conflict resolution, constructive engagement, dialogue and diplomacy. Read more »

Obama's Cairo Speech

On his visit to Egypt, President Obama made a speech in Cairo. Here is an excerpt from the New York Times article:

In opening a bold overture to the Islamic world on Thursday, President Obama confronted frictions between Muslims and the West, but he reserved some of his bluntest words for Israel, as he expressed sympathy for the Palestinians and what he called the “daily humiliations, large and small, that come with occupation.”

While Mr. Obama emphasized that America’s bond with Israel was “unbreakable,” he spoke in equally powerful terms of the Palestinian people, describing their plight as “intolerable” after 60 years of statelessness, and twice referring to “Palestine” in a way that put Palestinians on parallel footing with Israelis.

As MPJP, we believe that this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the Muslims in the US to help the world move towards peace. Here is a video from that speech in which he calls for new beginnings with the Muslim world:

Why an American Muslim Leadership in the World is a Must in Our Time

The challenge and the opportunity to serve humanity that exists before the American Muslims right now is rare in history. American Muslims are at the right place in a critical time in history to do great work that can help lead humanity in a positive direction for generations to come. This is an enormous responsibility. Read more »

The New Year’s Resolution for the American Muslim Leadership

We, the American Muslims, are at the right place at a critical time in history to make a difference. We are most urgently needed to help the world avoid a confrontational and destructive phase, and to help lead humanity in a positive direction for generations to come. If we do not recognize this opportunity and responsibility, this could lead to great failure. Read more »
